What it is

Gonadorelin is synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), the natural signal that triggers the pituitary to release LH and FSH — the hormones that in turn stimulate testosterone and fertility. In TRT contexts, it's used similarly to HCG, to try to keep the testes 'switched on' during external testosterone use.

Its natural role and mechanism are textbook endocrinology. The practical complication is that GnRH naturally needs to be released in pulses to work properly — continuous exposure can actually shut the system down rather than stimulate it — which makes dosing frequency genuinely important and not straightforward.

The science, graded

What’s claimed — and how strong the evidence behind each claim actually is.

“Stimulates natural LH release to support testicular function”

Sound, well-understood mechanism; correct pulsatile dosing is important to actually achieve this effect.

“A direct alternative to HCG in TRT programmes”

Used this way by some specialist clinics; head-to-head comparison evidence against HCG for this purpose is limited.

“Works the same regardless of dosing frequency”

Contradicted by basic GnRH pharmacology — continuous versus pulsatile exposure produces very different effects.

Great Britain

Preliminary researchRestricted / unlicensed

Limited routine UK-licensed availability for this specific TRT-adjunct use; typically accessed via specialist hormone clinics or compounding routes rather than standard pharmacy prescription.

This is preliminary regulatory research, not a reviewed legal determination or legal advice.

What the community says

A more niche, specialist-clinic topic than HCG — discussed by more research-engaged TRT users interested in the pulsatile-dosing nuance, rather than as a first-choice adjunct.
