What it is
Semax is a peptide developed and used clinically in Russia, where it is approved for stroke and cognitive indications. Outside Russia it is not a licensed medicine, and much of the supporting research is published in Russian journals that are difficult to independently verify.
It is popular as a nootropic, usually via nasal spray, for focus, memory and mood. The mechanism (effects on BDNF and neurotransmitters) is plausible, but the Western evidence base is thin.
